June 12th. A mixed bag. Some stocks climbed, others got chopped. Not every day is a trading day.
POET caught my eye today. It closed up 4.2%, moving from $12.10 to $12.60. A solid move. It had some momentum. But a good move isn't always our move. The setup didn't fully qualify by my metrics. I didn't chase it. Discipline is paramount. It means waiting for the perfect pitch, for the confluence of factors that gives us the edge.
On the other side, some serious red. FFWM plummeted 12.3%, from $6.72 to $5.90. GLDD took a dive too, down 10.1% to $17.00. These are big, sharp drops. They can wipe out accounts fast if you're on the wrong side. My system flagged the volatility and the heavy selling pressure. But a clear short opportunity, one that met all my rules for entry, didn't materialize. Avoiding a bad trade is a win in itself. Sometimes, not losing is winning. That’s playing the game smart so you can live your life.
Other movers? SNXX nudged up 0.6% to $35.99. TGNA went nowhere, effectively flat at $21.90. BE dropped 2.4% to $260.15. ASPI shed 4.0% to $6.55. A day with more downside than upside across the board.
My GRIPS scores today were a bit of a mixed signal. SNXX, with a high GRIPS of 90, barely twitched. POET at 79 made a nice run, which was good. But BE with an 84 went south. GLDD and FFWM, both at 76, got crushed. There wasn't a strong, consistent predictive power from GRIPS today. The market doesn't always play by the book. My job is to report it straight, always. Transparency is not just a buzzword here.
We ended the day with zero trades. Six alerts fired, but none met my stringent criteria for action. No hits, no misses. My paper account sits strong at $117,722.44, up 17.7% all-time. Sometimes the best move is no move at all. Today was one of those days.
