Mixed tape today. Big swings up and down. Squintz stayed cash.
Today, May 27th, was a demonstration of discipline. The market threw plenty of action our way. Our internal system, GRIPS, fired off 8 alerts. It identified the movers. It did its job, no question. But identifying is one thing. Acting is another.
Take ASTS. It popped, up 2.5% to $129.21. A solid move for anyone holding. GRIPS flagged it early with a 76 score. Good intel. But a GRIPS alert isn't an automatic trade for me. My entry criteria are tight. They are specific. ASTS didn't hit them today. We watched it climb. We didn't chase it. That's the difference.
On the other end, GLDD took a beating. It was down 10.1%, closing at $17.00. GRIPS caught this one too, rating it 76. A clear potential short setup. But again, the conditions for a Squintz-level play weren't there. We don't force trades just because something is moving. You learn to spot the difference between opportunity and noise.
Other tickers saw action. SOXL dropped 8.0%. A harsh day for the semiconductor bulls. VNET, SLS, and NVAX also bled red, down 2.2%, 2.4%, and 3.1% respectively. On the green side, SOXS scratched out a 0.5% gain, clocking a strong GRIPS 92. TGNA barely moved, finishing flat.
The market always offers plays. Always. My job is not to find a play, but to find the play. The high-probability setup with limited risk. Sometimes, that means doing nothing at all. That's the hardest trade to make. But it's often the smartest. It protects capital. It preserves your edge.
Our paper account sits healthy at $117,316.86, up a solid 17.3% all-time. We didn't add to that today. Sometimes, playing the game smart means knowing when not to play at all. That's how we keep you living your life.
